This is a not -so-clear picture of one of the day trips we took when our friends were here for Christmas. It is not so easy to take a picture on top of an elephant while it is walking. The roll of their huge shoulders makes for a rather bumpy ride. It moves you around too much. 
We discussed how we would NOT like to travel by elephant. Romantic sounding, but not terribly comfortable.
Although this is not the fourth picture, it is a better one of the day.
This is a fun place to go, so if anyone shows up to visit us, hint, hint, hint, we would take you too!

Is this in Chiang Mai? We were just there on Wednesday and went to the Maesa Elephant Camp… we didn’t get to ride the elephants, but we did see an elephant show:).
Looks sorta fun but at the same time I’d be really nervous. When we went to Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda during our year there, the park rangers impressed on us the extreme dangers posed by elephants. And if they should become agitated they can run really fast and stomp pretty much anything in their path. Including vehicles. So guess I’d like to have the experience of riding an elephant if I was sure it wouldn’t go on a tearing rampage while I was on its back
